Welcome to the
ALL PET CENTER

Dear Fellow Villagers and Residents of the Village Area;

You may have noticed the articles in both of the Village newspapers concerning my ideas for the Village. So, I thought I would give you some background on myself and my personal feelings about what a veterinary service for this area should provide.

I have practiced veterinary medicine continuously for the past 34 years. Prior to vet school I served in the United States Air Force and am a retired reserve Major. I graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1965. Then graduated from Veterinary School at the University of Illinois in 1973. For the 15 years before moving to the Village I practiced in Coming, Ark., located in the northeast comer of the state. I actually came to the Village in 1978, but didn't see enough people to justify opening a practice here at that time. Imagine my surprise and pleasure in March 1998 when I and my son, John Paul, came for a visit. Since I am a Midwesterner myself, coming here was like coming home! The level of intelligence here must be very high since Villagers almost always laugh at my jokes!

My year at the Village Pet Clinic was a revelation, in many ways, The quality of medicine you expect is very high. And you care very much for your pets, or "Friends," as I call them. So, I have dedicated myself to deliver that level of service at an affordable price that both you desire and your Friends deserve.

I began veterinary practice in Champaign, Ill., in 1974 in a house call practice. So, I have come full circle. While living in the Village, I have noticed that it is at times difficult and inconvenient, and just stressful for many Villagers and/or your Friends to come to the clinic for matters that could just as easily be accomplished in the comfort and security of the home. Village friends lead stress-free lives. There is no need to increase the stress to meet specific office hours or to have to load up and come to a facility that harbors noises and memories that are unnecessary. However, I now have a full-service practice facility located behind O'Brien's Restaurant near the Front Gate.

While touring in Europe in the 1970s, I had the privilege of traveling with and meeting veterinarians from other countries. Veterinary hospitals and clinics are few and far between. Approximately 90% of all European veterinary services are brought to the home or apartment. So this tradition greatly impressed me because the veterinarian was at the service and disposal of the client and patient. The Village setting is unique in many ways and is well-suited and deserving of such service. Village response and support to date has been very gratifying. I can tell you that some Friends are quite different at home. I have been able to modify some of my medical suggestions to better suit their needs based upon home-site observations.

I know that many of you feel that this home call service is an imposition upon me or my staff. You are simply not used to this level of service, nor are your Friends. So, get used to it! You deserve it! I have based the success of my previous four practices on my serving the needs of my clients and their pets. You will get the same from me here. And yes, after the All Pet Center is in full operation, the home service will continue. I have termed this Pet Home Health, because that is both a familiar and accurate term for this service . I intend to deliver a total in home service. Your Friends needs will be met .

The All Pet Center web page is now on-line. You will be able to select any service that you wish or order any supplies that you need. These will be delivered to your door or you may pick them up . The web site will also have a complete listing of in home services from pet sitting to administering medication to brushing teeth!! Information, recipes, featured "friends," stories, and more will be provided. You may, of course, email me at any time with questions which I will answer promptly.

I want you to know that I will do the very best that I can for your Friends. I have developed an extensive network of specialists in all phases of the veterinary profession for consultation or referral . I do not like to make mistakes, underestimate a pending medical problem, or risk your Friend's health by guessing .

Looking forward to serving you!
