Prologue to the Marcino-Hadley Matter
If the reader has reviewed the first two cases, presented in
2002-3, the connection between these cases, the vets involved
peripherally and collaterally requires a brief explanation. The
Village Pet Clinic was transferred in some manner to Dr. Thoms
in Benton who hired or co-practiced with Dr. Jill when the first
two matters were developed and delivered to the vet board. Dr.
Edwards, as many of you know, had a satellite practice near the
Village for many years. This practice is now the Waggin Wheel
owned by, in some manner, yes, Dr. Jill. Keep this in mind as
you proceed through the documents. The Edwards satellite clinic
suffered mightily from my practice to the point that it was
barely open at all. The Village Pet Clinic was closed and moved
to the Edwards clinic site which is now the Waggin Wheel. The
practice did poorly until Hadley Marcino and her complaint hit
the vet board and then was accordingly published in the Village
Voice by Jerry an individual I had evicted from my practice due
to his abusive verbal treatment of my staff. Please try to keep
these facts in mind as you follow the winding trail through
these documents. The complete transcript and all copies of
documents and other evidence are public information and
available through the vet board, Ms. Glover, 501-224-2538.
History: I was the doctor for Hadley Marcino’s dogs for many
years. She had introduced herself to me as a Naturopathic
Doctor (ND). Since I had and continue to meet so many qualified
and highly talented Villagers, I had no inclination to question
her on this matter. She opened an office at the Otte clinic and
presented herself as an ND with many other certifications. I
have included the documents that show her to be a fraud. In any
event I even referred some of my clients (human) to her for a
short period of time until several of them said she was not what
she claimed to be. The documents and court matters should give
you sufficient information to make up your minds as to her
mental and professional status and her credibility.
Reference Nikki, the doggy involved in this matter. Hadley
dropper her off on a Friday, the day of the final hearing on her
divorce from Roger Hadley (filed at Garland county courthouse).
Nikki was terminally diabetic, not responding to insulin. She
pleaded with me to help Nikki in some way. Since she was a
naturopath and averse to medicine, she had never had Nikki's
teeth cared for. Nikki was in advanced periodontal disease. So
I agreed to scale her teeth and give her some antibiotics.
Hadley then flew to Florida to see her new grandbaby and
receive consolation from her children as we all do in traumatic
events such as divorce. Nikki was never put under anesthesia.
You can read the docs for yourself. She did have trouble
walking, was paretic (weakened) in the hind limbs, but not
paralyzed. When Hadley brought Nikki back at my insistence on
Thursday, the day after she went home, Nikki ran through my
clinic and into the grooming room, on all four feet. Carmella,
my assistant asked me if I still wanted to send her to Dr.
Larsen, a chiropractor with whom I consult from time to time on
back problems as he is very knowledgeable. In my mind, any help
from anybody qualified in pain and neurology, as Dr. Larsen is
very well-known, should be consulted anyway. He examined her
and called me. That was the last time I saw Nikki when she
returned from Dr. Larsen’s to my clinic. I told Hadley Marcino
to bring her back daily for therapy and advised an NSAID,
Rimadyl which Nikki had previously taken (see docs).
Hadley kept calling me basically every day and refused to bring
Nikki in for therapy. From what I can and later determined, she
probably panicked and gave her dog Torudol. The first notation
on Nikki’s medical record is what I told her, the time and date
being important. Compare this to the extent of time since I
last saw Nikki, and her demise or euthanasia. Any further
analysis or questions you have can be directed to me by phone,
email, or in person. I can answer any questions you may have.
Please note that the outcry and outrage from the Voice article
gave Dr. Jill and Dr. Edwards a huge amount of clients and a
very healthy practice where before there had been a very small
practice.
Commentary Re: Hadley
credentials.
The reader is encouraged to
check up on the credentials listed by Hadley now Marcino, living
in Panama City Beach, Florida. Deposition taken in Florida
coming up asking her for copy of her thesis (she can't find it)
and the name of her degree issuing university or college (Costa
Rican institute on the internet). Did not produce a diploma as
requested. Note also her claim to the board to be a registered
nurse. She worked in a doctors office but not nursing. Etc.,
Etc. Cannot find any evidence of a PhD anywhere on this earth.
She made an attempt to be certified in Arkansas, evidently with
the psych board, but was denied. None of her credentials were
ever confirmed by her with diploma, certificates, or addresses
of the institutions, involved.
There are two pages of
times and dates. To eliminate confusion, please note that one
set was sent to the board, and one set was sent to Dr. Edwards
when she took her dog Nikki to him for treatment. The absolute
certainty of her dated statements listing her contacts with my
staff and me and the issuing of a written prescription for Torudol on Saturday, a day later then when the prescription was
called in to Walgreens, coupled with her admission that she used
Torudol on herself in the past, might give you pause. If you
check the date of Saturday, you will note that she came to my
clinic. I was here. The opening statement on her dog Nikki’s
record was the date and time she called me pressing me to
recommend Torudal for her dog which I refused to do. That was
the 12th of April. The prescription was called to Walgreens on
Friday the 7th (see docs). So on Saturday the 8th she came in
to my office and picked up a written prescription which was not
issued nor does it exist. She told the board at the hearing
that she did not have the prescription with her. Of course, it
never existed. The notations on the side of her statement were
made by me for Mr. Campbell, a very fine attorney in Panama City
Florida, who conducted the deposition on my behalf. Please read
it closely. I am still looking for the individuals she
mentioned in the deposition. Mrs. Graves when reached denied
ever knowing Mrs. Marcino and was an elderly lady in the
Fountain Lake area here. She wondered how her name got in to
this matter.
Evidently Nikki the dog
was euthanized or died two days later after Hadley called me for
the recommendation for Torudol. I had to look it up in the
pharmacy book as I had never heard of it. *Reader should also
note that Edwards Veterinarian also gave Rimadyl to Nikki.
Please note the ranting by Hadley about not giving Nikki
Rimadyl. Also note no entry for euthanasia solution quantity or
who administered the drug at Edwards Clinic. Did not produce
any records as ordered for the hearing concerning this matter.
This list of comments is
interspersed with the documents to give you some idea of the
carefully woven history of the events in this matter. The
reader should marvel at the cleverness of this woman in her
ability to weave such a convincing web. So I ask you personally
to wonder why the vet board would have accepted her statements
that I had misled her!! There was no actual evidence of any
injury by or from my clinical experience with Nikki. There were
no documents produced by Hadley at the hearing to prove her
claim of a prescription written by me or the phone records to
back up her claims of calling me “15 times a day”. So there was
nothing to prove any wrongdoing on my part. So the board
decided I had “misled” Hadley for five days. I had of course
given an account of my conversations with her. Before the board
decided on this transgression, Mr. Martin, the non-vet on the
board started yelling at me why did you do this? When I asked
him what he was referring to, since the evidence was all there
for him to examine. He just continued to yell at me why did you
do this? I appealed the decision and was not suspended as the
Voice has said on several occasions. You all can understand, as
I do, the uncertainty that runs through people that read this
jaded tome called the Voice. It seems that somebody or some
individuals are out to weaken me and my practice here to the
benefit of the other vets in the area.
In any event, my loyal clients
and the many even-minded people that have chosen to believe in
me, God bless them all, have continued to receive the high
quality of care here that they rarely receive anywhere else.
Those people who choose to believe the worst, are really not
worth my time or yours.
